Deine Aufgaben

• Du sorgst gemeinsam mit Deinem Team für die adäquate Umsetzung der Produktanforderungen, übernimmst Entwicklungsaufgaben im Front- und Backend


• Sharing is caring: Unser Wissen in den Bereichen "Paywall" und "Digital Subscriptions" teilen wir auch mit den Entwicklungseinheiten der verschiedenen Verlage


• Es erwartet dich ein agiles und interdisziplinäres Team aus Scrum Master, Product Owner, Tester, Web-Analyst und Fullstack-Entwicklern


• Wir leben eine DevOps-Kultur: You build it, you run it


• Enge Zusammenarbeit mit den Data Engineers und Data Scientists

Dein Profil

• Leidenschaft für aktuelle Technologie-Entwicklungen und deren Einsatzmöglichkeiten – sowohl auf Desktops als auch mobilen Endgeräten


• Abgeschlossenes (Fach)Hochschulstudium der Informatik oder einem verwandten Fachgebiet bzw. eine vergleichbare Qualifikation

We are currently seeking 2 Cloud Scala Software Developers to be a technical resource for the development of clean and maintainable code and to work on the integration of enterprise data into a cohesive analytical data warehouse.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Understand our client's fast-moving business requirements


• Negotiate appropriate solutions with multiple stakeholders


• Write and maintain scalable enterprise quality software


• Develop new applications and production application support


• Participate in detailed technical design, development, and implementation of applications using existing and emerging technology platforms.


• Manage the complete software development life cycle


• Writing functional and unit tests in order to maintain code quality


• Develop an understanding of client business processes, objectives, and solution requirements.


• Participate in project workgroups with subject matter experts and stakeholders to understand specific needs


• Collaborate with other teams in order to deliver a high-performance application that contains little or no defects


• Identify new opportunities, tools, and services to enhance the custom software platform


• Support and troubleshoot issues (process & system), identify root cause, and proactively recommend sustainable corrective actions

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Advanced Scala development-based software solutions


• Extensive enterprise experience in web applications


• Enterprise experience with relational and nonrelational database


• Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, or Container Orchestration (Kubernetes) is a plus


• Hands-on experience with Postgres, MySQL, or Redis technologies is a plus


• Hands-on experience with Play framework


• Hands-on experience with Java 8 a plus


• Hands-on experience with NoSQL technologies


• Familiar React and/or similar JavaScript frameworks is a plus


• Demonstrates willingness to learn new technologies and takes pride in delivering working software


• Excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical, and problem-solving skills


• Experience participating on an agile team


• Self-directed and can effectively contribute with little supervision


• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other technical disciplines; or equivalent work experience

As a developer, you will flex your Back End engineering expertise, while building new features and services in Scala with Play and Akka, all hosted on AWS. You’ll have the opportunity to work on a high impact team to expand our API's capabilities, all while ensuring quality and robustness. Day to day:

• Lead the technical design of new features on Even’s core platform and API


• Contribute to a collaborative code base with other team members


• Identify, advocate for, and implement improvements to our services


• Flex into adjacent areas as needed, such as Data Engineering or DevOps


• Mentor, teach and unblock other engineers, and spread knowledge through things like brown bags


• Review new architecture proposals across our teams by participating in our RFC process and design sessions


• Analyze and debug complex system-level issues


• Recommend new technologies to improve developer impact, code quality, and our product offerings

You may be a good fit:

• 4-7 years software engineering experience.


• Strong experience working with JVM environments, preferably Scala or Java 8+.


• Knowledge and understanding of SQL, database designs, and general best practices.


• Experience with Event-based design patterns and Kafka or similar technologies.


• Experience with AWS or another cloud infrastructure provider.


• Excellence in designing and delivering functionality in a collaborative setting.


• Drive to deploy your code and features, and follow them to production to ensure smooth delivery.


• Meticulous attention to detail, in both your own work and when reviewing others.


• Not afraid to get into the logs to root out errors.


• Eager to master new technologies and techniques.


• Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures and data sets.
